Barton Community College Future Business Leaders of America members attended the National Collegiate FBLA Leadership Conference and competition June 6-8 in Las Vegas.

The collegiate conference allowed students to compete in a variety of business-related objective tests and events. Students also attended workshops focused on college success, leadership development, and career preparation.

The team of David Dominguez and Rose Timmermeyer earned sixth place in the nation for their Business Ethics presentation. As community college students, they competed against peers from a wide range of institutions nationwide, including students from prominent universities.

Other Barton students attending the conference and competing were Audrey Reh and Katelin Ritchie.

Barton Business Instructor Jennifer Steinert said the experience challenged students while helping them grow as leaders and future professionals.

“Attending the conference and competing at the national level provided the students with numerous opportunities to step outside of their comfort zones,” she said. “They learned valuable information from the workshops they attended, met peers from across the country, and demonstrated their knowledge and skills.”

Steinert said she was proud of the students for the way they represented Barton on a national stage.

“These students are excellent representatives of Barton Community College,” she said. “We are so proud of them for pushing themselves both personally and professionally. It’s been very rewarding to witness their growth over this past year.”

Barton President Dr. Marcus Garstecki offered his congratulations to the participating Barton students.

“We are so proud of our FBLA students on their excellent showing at the National Conference,” he said. “Their hard work, professionalism, and dedication to learning and growth make this a truly Barton Proud moment,” he said. “I also want to recognize the dedicated efforts of our faculty and staff who helped launch this chapter and provide our students with such a meaningful opportunity.”
