Barton Community College has continued to defy shrinking enrollment trends experienced by other Kansas community colleges, and by no small margin. Barton grew by more than 20 percent since 2010.

Nancy Wiebe resigned from the position of Executive Director of Institutional Advancement on Wednesday. The resignation is effective June 30, though cessation of duties is immediate.
The Barton Community College Library will team up with the English department and Barton’s literary annual “Prairie Ink” staff to host a “Spooky” writing workshop from 6-7:30 p.m. Oct. 16 in the Barton Library in the Cavanaugh Room.
As of Tuesday, September 30th, the drought monitor report indicates little change from last week.
The Barton Community College Board of Trustees voted unanimously at its September meeting to approve the launch of a women’s wrestling program, set to begin competition in the 2026-2027 academic year.
The Barton Performing Arts Department will host its annual “Autumn Arts” sneak preview concert at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Admission is free.
Barton Community College’s annual literary publication, “Prairie Ink”, has begun accepting entries for its 17th edition.
The annual Bill McKown Masquerade Ball will return this year with live music, food, wine, and a costume contest from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 10 in the Shafer Gallery.
Barton Community College invites the public to participate in a series of free computer and digital literacy classes offered throughout October, including two new courses through a partnership with Nex-Tech Wireless.
As of Tuesday, September 23rd, the drought monitor report indicates more improvement. The state is up to 82% totally out of dry conditions from 77%.
